MEDITOMATO is a H2020 project funded by the PRIMA (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area, http://prima-med.org/ ) and coordinated by Ingeniería y Control. The main goal of MEDITOMATO is to demonstrate innovative technology solutions in three demo-sites based on PRIMA countries covering the whole tomato value chain (from agricultural production to fresh product, processing and distribution) enabling this sector (including SMEs and smallholders) to progress at different levels (environmental, food quality & safety, sustainability, traceability, efficiency and water management) contributing to a consistent rural and social development of the Mediterranean agro-food sector supported on a quality, safe and sustainable production basis.A consortium with reference entities along the Mediterranean will tackle this ambitious objective including: Ingeniería y Control Electrónico S.A. (Spain), IK4 TEKNIKER (Spain), Diadikasia Business Consulting S.A. (Greece). The role of Ingeniería y Control consists of: (1) the coordination of project activities, (2) the development of a software platform to integrate fertigation, quality and other measurements to optimize production as well as (3) the implementation of traceability systems in the three demo-sites.
